
G.R. (Randy) Akin graduated in 1978 from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and graduated
in 1981 from Baylor School of Law with a Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Texas Bar in the same year.
Mr. Akin is licensed to practice in both State and Federal Courts. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury
Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and further Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate
by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Mr. Akin has been Board Certified since 1989. He is a Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation, Member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, a Special Assistant Disciplinary Counsel to the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline, and has had an active trial practice involving over 125 civil jury verdicts on both the plaintiff and defense side. Mr. Akin is still currently practicing law.
Randy Akin began training for mediation/arbitration in 1990 through the U.S. Arbitration and Mediation. He traveled out of state for his initial training and then spent several months under Honorable Dee Johnson of Dallas, Texas, and Mr. Jerome Levy of Dallas, Texas, who are two very fine dispute resolution specialists. Mr. Akin now performs around 100 dispute resolutions per year.
Randy Akin has been recognized as a 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Texas Super Lawyer by his peers and AV rated by Marindale Hubbell.
Mr. Akin is a pianist and keyboardist and has been playing the keyboards since he was 9 years old. He currently plays every week for his Church, and plays regularly for weddings through his wife, Lynne's, wedding rental business. He has played at numerous events including four years of All-University Sing at Baylor University, company picnics, Church events and revivals, funerals, the Miss Teen Longview Pageant, Highway 80 Rescue Mission, his daughters' weddings, and various other gatherings.
