Mr. Akin maintains an active trial practice along with his work as a mediator. He has handled thousands of cases as a trial attorney in both State and Federal court. Mr. Akin represents both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury (negligence and products liability), commercial disputes, professional responsibility, toxic tort, and class action cases. He has tried verdicts involving tens of millions of dollars and some of his most notable clients include DHL Worldwide Express, Honda, and Riddell Helmet Company. Mr. Akin also represents numerous, East Texas companies in their business and employment disputes. On the plaintiff's side of the docket, Mr. Akin has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for clients who have been injured or damaged by the wrongdoing of others. This includes multi-million dollar recoveries against the manufacturer of personal watercrafts, traveling fair rides, and negligent trucking companies. He has also recovered seven figure compensation against the State of Texas and a healthcare insurance company through class action litigation. Mr. Akin also serves as local counsel for attorneys from all over the United States, and from foreign countries, in litigation in State and Federal courts in the East Texas area.
